Dr. Meng Sun is a professor at Chinese Academy of Sciences, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES). He received his B.S. and M.S. in Environmental Engineering at Jilin University, China, and received his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at the RCEES, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2016. During his doctoral research, he was mentored by Prof. Jiuhui Qu and conducted studies on developing advanced electrochemical technologies for water purification and reuse. In order to elucidate electrochemical interfacial mass transfer, Dr. Meng Sun joined Prof. Jinghong Li’s group at Tsinghua University, Department of Chemistry. During that time, he was well trained in electroanalytical chemistry and nanoscopic electrochemistry. His research interest gradually shifted to innovative electrochemical processes for water treatment and resource recovery. To further broaden his research to interdisciplinary technology integration, Meng Sun joined Prof. Elimelech’s group as an associate researcher at Yale University and focused on the development of next-generation electrified membrane materials and processes at the water-energy nexus. In 2021, Dr. Meng Sun returned to China and started working at the School of Environment, Tsinghua University. In 2025, He was transferred full-time to the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. At present, Dr. Sun Meng's research focuses on the innovation of the coupling principles and methods of electrochemistry and membrane separation technology in water treatment, and is engaged in the development and engineering application of intelligent perception and control technologies and process systems for new pollutants in water environment.

Dr. Meng Sun has authored more than 60 refereed journal publications in the fields of environments, energy, nanotechnology, and chemistry, including research and invited review articles in Science Advances, Nature Communications, ACS Nano, Adv. Energy Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Nano Today, ES&T, and Water Research, and is co-author of two books. By Jan. 2025, these publications have gained a total citation of over 4800 times in Google Scholar (H index 29). Found on his research interests, Dr. Meng Sun has held eight Chinese and international patents.

孙猛，2025年1月加入中国科学院，现任中科院环境水质学国家重点实验室新污染物智能感知与控制课题组组长，教育部青年长江学者，国家重点研发计划项目青年首席科学家，兼任IWA中国青委会委员，中国环境科学学会青年科学家分委会委员，中国工程院院刊Engineering青年编委、学科秘书，RCR Advances编委，CCL编委等。孙猛分别于2009年和2012年在吉林大学获得环境工程学士和硕士学位。于2016年在生态环境研究中心获得环境工程博士学位，师从曲久辉院士。2016-2021年全职在耶鲁大学环境系开展博士后研究并担任助理研究员职务，合作导师Menachem Elimelech院士。2021年回国就职于清华大学环境学院，2025年全职调入中国科学院生态环境研究中心。研究方向聚焦水处理电化学和膜分离技术耦合原理和方法创新，从事水环境新污染物智能感知与控制技术与工艺系统开发与工程应用。迄今为止，以第一/通讯作者在Science Advances、Nature Communications、ACS Nano、Adv. Energy Mater.、Adv. Funct. Mater.、Nano Today、ES&T（10篇）和Water Research等刊物发表SCI论文60余篇，参编英文专著2部，授权发明专利8项。近五年先后主持国家重点研发计划青年科学家项目、重点国际合作项目、国家自然科学基金面上项目、北京市自然科学基金面上项目等。曾获日本奥加诺水质与水环境特等奖，中科院院长奖，2021年度ES&T最佳论文奖（2021 ES&T Best Paper Awards）和2023年度ACS ES&T Engineering杰出评审奖（ACS ES&T Engineering Excellence in Review Award 2023）等学术奖项。截至2025年1月，所发表论文在谷歌学术被引用超过4800次，H指数29。
